The Artist:

The artist known as "Barbarossa" has been creating custom action figures and parts for over fifteen years. Well-known to the MOTU collector community, his work has been focused on filling the voids and expanding the boundaries of action figure lines. The launch of barbarossasculpts.com is the culmination of a career in customs, a lifetime of love for action figures, and childhood dreams coming to fruition. Barbarossa digitally and traditionally designs and sculpts his creations and offers hand-crafted full figures, heads, parts and accessories compatible with multiple action figure lines.

The Site & The Studio:

This site presents the work of an action-figure-obsessed artist who is hell-bent on filling the gaps in his favorite action figure lines and wants to share his work with fellow-collectors. Barbarossa Creations is a two-person operation (one craftsman and one assistant) and everything that's crafted is done so by hand (except where/if noted). We strive to make things look like you might have found it on a store shelf but make no mistake, this is the quintessential mom & pop operation!

Peter's techniques are self-taught through research and trail and error over the past 15+ years. He digitally and traditionally designs and sculpts his creations before turning them into molds for resin casting, followed by hand-assembly, finishing and hand-painted details.

Behind every great man is a woman kicking him up the butt and keeping him moving. This one was imported from Australia, so you'll occasionally see the alternate spelling of things. Misty tries to handle the admin aspects to Peter can keep creating.

The Products:

These items are intended to complement and be compatible with various action figure lines and scales. Everything sold on this site is hand-crafted. We do NOT sell 3D prints; instead, everything is traditionally-poured resin castings from hand-poured silicone rubber molds. This affords the full breadth of options in colors, materials hardness, flexibility and effects, ensuring the same quality brought to the collector community all these years.

Pieces are colored ALL the way through; not just on the surface. The resin itself is colored the base color of any particular piece; painted details are the only surface-level coloration. These pieces are as close to the look and feel of 'production' pieces as you're likely to find!

Sculpts are created in 3D with each modeled piece printed in high detail MSLA/SLA Resin. Parts are then professionally cleaned and polished and serve as prototypes to be used for the silicone-rubber molds. Sourced-pieces may include base-bodies for full figures which may be painted or used as-is, certain soft-goods and of course, various supplies such as electronics components.

Ordering:

All products are hand-crafted and made-to-order (except where otherwise noted) and sold as pre-orders. Orders ship in as little as 4 and as much as 12 weeks but sometimes may take longer (we strive to deliver in less than 6 weeks when possible and stay in touch as necessary without flooding your inbox).

Full payment is collected at time of purchase. Some variation may occur from photos. Some products (mainly full custom figures) may include sourced pieces from existing items and are so indicated.
